Our Custom Project: Hex Nut with Fine Thread, ASTM A194 GR7
We recently produced a hex nut with a 3” UNF fine thread in ASTM A194 GR7 alloy steel, specifically designed for the petrochemical sector. This component was designed for critical applications, including:
- High-pressure pipelines, used for transporting fluids under high pressure.
- Pressure valves, including those for use in high-pressure systems.
- Heat exchangers, also known as heat transfer devices.
- Flanges and other specialized applications.
While adhering to standard regulations, this nut stands out for its unique dimensions and custom manufacturing process, demonstrating our ability to provide highly personalized solutions in special bolting.
Our Production Process and Quality Controls
In this instance, testing was conducted on the raw material, the steel bar, and the finished product.
Ultrasonic testing was conducted on the steel bar to ensure it was free of any defects.
The applied machining process was turning. Following production, the nut underwent a series of rigorous tests:
- Hardness tests to verify the material's strength;
- Proof load tests to verify its ability to withstand mechanical stresses.
Upon request, additional magnetic particle and/or liquid penetrant testing can be conducted on the finished product. These tests are crucial for detecting cracks, ensuring the structural integrity of the parts.
