Lombardy's economy - Current economic climate
According to the periodic surveys conducted by UCR (Unioncamere, Confindustria Lombardia, Regione Lombardia) and Banca d’Italia on the performance of regional economies, the mechanical sector achieved a growth of 5.3% in the course of 2018 compared to the previous year, higher than the average (3.4%) of other manufacturing branches.
In the first nine months of the year, manufacturing production increased in all dimensional classes. Export development concerns almost all sectors. Among the main export sectors, the expansion was particularly strong in metallurgy, means of transport and leather goods and footwear, which together contributed over 75% of the overall sales growth (including the chemical-pharmaceutical and the mechanical).
